The Complete Works of Robert Burns: containing his Poems, Songs and Correspondence. With a New Life of the Poet, and Notices, Critical and Biographical.

No date (c. 1840s?). Half brown leather over brown cloth, with black/gilt title label to spine. 180 x 258 x 45mm. (lxi) + 422pp. Marbled page-edges; 59 splendid engraved plates, of which two ('Bess and her Spinning-Wheel' and 'The Country Lassie') are missing; with Glossary. Leather worn and scuffed, though intact apart from 3cm split at bottom of spine; internal contents generally somewhat grubby, esp. front and rear endpapers; inner pages reasonably clean, though with occasional grubby marks/light spotting throughout; binding a little loose in places, but still secure. Overall a well-worn, well-used volume which shows its age, but may be considered to have all the more character for that.
