The book is bound in dark green morocco grain leatherette with five raised bands and compartments ruled in gilt on the spine. Title and author in gilt on the spine. Corners and head of spine are bumped. Top edges gilt. Fore-edges are rough-cut and have light foxing. Brown coated endpapers. Frontis-piece portrait of Shakespeare with tissue guard. There is light foxing on the preliminary pages. Bookplate of previous owner on the page after the first free endpaper and name of previous owner dated 1878 on that same page. Otherwise, pages are lightly age-toned, clean, smooth and unmarked. Printed in double columns. 715 pages plus a lengthy "Catalogue of Popular and Standard Books published by William P Nimmo " dated "1871" at the rear of the book.
