Composite Materials: Fabrication, Testing and Applications

Composite Materials – Fabrication, Testing and Applications provides a comprehensive overview of the principles, processing techniques, and performance evaluation of modern composite materials. It introduces fundamental concepts and types of composites, including polymer, metal, and ceramic matrix systems, along with their constituent materials and key properties. The book explores various fabrication methods such as hand lay-up, compression molding, filament winding, pultrusion, resin transfer molding, and emerging additive manufacturing techniques, discussing their principles, advantages, and applications. It also covers testing and characterization, including mechanical, thermal, and microstructural evaluation, with reference to ASTM standards, as well as non-destructive testing and quality control. Finally, it highlights the diverse applications of composite materials across engineering fields.
