Edizioni Universit� di Trieste --- Negli anni 70, veniva sintetizzato per la prima volta il pentatelluride di zirconio (ZrTe5); esso presentava una curiosa particolarit� nelle propriet� di trasporto (resistivit� e potere termoelettrico) rimasta inspiegata, nonostante le numerose ricerche al riguardo, fino a questo studio. Pi� recentemente, l ipotesi che il materiale possa essere un isolante topologico, cio� che appartenga a una nuova classe di materiali scoperti in questi anni, ha riacceso l interesse sul ZrTe5, aprendo un grande dibattito internazionale. Questo lavoro di ricerca fornisce delle importanti risposte riguardo alle due questioni presentate. L utilizzo di numerose tecniche sperimentali d avanguardia (Tr-ARPES, UV-ARPES, SX-ARPES, XRD, SR-ARPES, STM, STS) e il contributo di calcoli teorici hanno permesso di determinare le ragioni dell anomalia di trasporto e la natura di isolante topologico di tipo forte del ZrTe5, fornendo cos� delle risposte esaurienti alle domande concernenti la natura di questo affascinante materiale.
