Review
...Comprehensive Biotechnology delineates and collates all aspects of the subject. This handsomely bound and well indexed work contains a lot of information and facts of traditional biotechnology and new important developments in this field. It is directed at chemical engineers, microbiologists, genetisists and administrators. Both researchers and students, experts and beginners will gain something from reading this work...will be an indispensable reference source not only for biotechnologists...It can be recommended warmly...It will find many friends and it ought to be not lacking in libraries, laboratories and industry. -- Acta Biotechnology, Volume 6
...Comprehensive Biotechnology fills an important niche in publications on biotechnology and largely succeeds in its objective of integrating information on this interdisciplinary subject...Comprehensive Biotechnology largely succeeds in its intention to be the standard reference work in the field. -- Federation of European Biochemical Societies
...It contains useful information for students, teachers and administrators...Section one presents excellent discussions of bioreactor design, operation and control...This set is well illustrated with photographs and diagrams and extensive bibliographies are included with many chapters...it should be included in the libraries of any academic unit or industry which has workers involved in biotechnology. There is something for everyone. The browsing student will find much to inspire his enthusiasm for the subject, while the comprehensive treatment of many topics and extensive bibliographies will be extremely useful for the professional... -- Journal of the American Chemical Society, Volume 108, Number 12
...work which lives up to its billing...the absense of stuffiness in the prose on inhibitory jargon is a strong incentive for the reader to explore the text rather than merely to use it for reference...Specialists have generally judged the treatments of their own areas to be thorough, well illustrated, topical and generously referenced...Murray Moo-Young and his colleagues have brought off a notable success in producing this work...Comprehensive Biotechnology will be an essential purchase for all departments and institutions, academic or industrial, that claim an interest in any aspect of the ill-defined field popularly known as biotechnology... -- Nature, Volume 321
A fine addition to Pergamon Press' series of Comprehensive...titles. The four-volume set is coherently arranged and well indexed, and the scientific and engineering credentials of the writers and editors are excellent. The set is easy to use; each volume contains an index to the full set, a glossary and the contents of the other volumes. The subject coverage is comprehensive. Highly recommended for comprehensive graduate collections in biology and essential for any biotechnology collection. For small colleges and large public libraries. -- Choice
