viii + 1294 pages + a section on the description of plates (24 pages) - one page of which is missing bottom right area affecting text) + intricate B&W plates, a few fold-out . No dustjacket. Binding has dark brown ?leather spine (which is cross-banded with half of the title page) and boards' corners - wear/rubs to spine-ends and boards' corners - rubbing to boards edges. Page-edges browned and faded marbling pattern. Page-margins lightly browned with brown spotting/splots in places, pencil writing to inside of front boards, ink writing to flyleaf, ink name and place to title page, preliminary pages area creased o/w pages clean and tidy.
