Cover title: Worcester's Comprehensive Spelling-Book First edition. 12mo (7" x 4 5/8"); 156pp; mint green board, title, publisher on front with a vignette of children and a teacher in a school room in an oval frame surrounded by flowers on the front, rear board is publisher's ad for "New Series Hillard's Readers;" black cloth shelf-back; ownership in pencil on ffep; text tight; wear to boards, chipping to spine, glue burns to eps, a few internal fingerprints; very good minus. A comprehensive spelling book for later elementary or early secondary students with 267 numbered lessons. Includes sections on word prefixes, affixes, roots, and derivations, as well as English words from foreign languages. An interesting addition is "Christian Names of Men and Women" with the correct pronunciation.
