This book contains edited versions of the most relevant papers presented at the Ninth International Conference on Computational Methods and Experimental Measurements, which was held in Sorrento, Italy, April 27-29, 1999. The book reviews state-of-the-art developments in the interaction between numerical methods and experimental measurements.

In spite of the recent advances in computational techniques that has resulted from the enormous increase in the efficiency of computers, problems still exist which cannot be solved without recourse to experiment.
