The principle difficulty in modeling multiphase flows, according to editors Mammoli (U. of New Mexico, US) and Brebbia (Wessex Institute of Technology, UK), is the problem of differing length scales, with coupling in one or both directions. This problem requires the application of a diversity of numerical approaches and techniques. This diversity is reflected in the range of topics treated in this volume, the proceedings of an international conference on computational methods, held in November of 2003.
