Computer Control of Processes

Most texts covering computer process control present either controller design methods or details on computer hardwares. Computer Control Processes covers the essentials of both of these aspects so that they may be covered in a single semester course. It covers computer networking, topology, communication protocol, DCS, and also includes newer topics such as PLCs, smart sensors and fieldbus, identification and design of nonlinear controllers, and fuzzy logic controllers.

Organized into two sections, Part One provides details on computers, interfacing aspects, networking of computers, smart sensors and fieldbuses, and programmable logic controllers. Part Two covers identification of linear models, nonlinear models and design controllers for linear and nonlinear discrete systems. The comprehensive and concise nature to this reference make it appropriate as a textbook for elective courses in "computer process control" for graduate students in chemical, mechanical, and instrumentation and control engineering disciplines.
