Computer Networking for Systems Programmers

Presents data communications and networking from a computer programmer's perspective and will help programmers ``ramp-up'' very quickly to produce data communications and networking software. Based on real world examples, it describes what data communications hardware does, how data communications software works, and what protocols are all about, focusing on what the programmer needs to know to write networking programs. The detailed, comprehensive coverage will also prove valuable to systems analysts in assessing the requirements of particular data communications and networking systems, and to systems engineers in developing a strong software-oriented understanding of data communications and networking technology, and the limitations of implementations.
