About the Author: Larry Peterson is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Arizona, where he teaches the Computer Network and Operating System classes, and directs the Network Systems Research Group. He has been involved in the design and evaluation of several network protocols, as well as the design the x-kernel protocol implementation framework. He is an Associated Editor of the ACM Transactions on Computer Systems and the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, and a member of the Internet's End-to-End Research Group. Bruce Davie is a System Architect in the ATM Business Unit of Cisco Systems, Inc. His interests include gigabit networking, quality of service issues in the Internet, and the relationship between the Internet Protocol (IP) and ATM.
