It details her life and political rise through extensive interviews she granted Witke in 1972. This book presents Jiang Qing's perspective as a woman and revolutionary, though it was released after her fall from power and imprisonment as part of the "Gang of Four". It's a significant work in women's studies, Asian history, and political science, offering insight into her self-perception and her role in Chinese politics, despite being criticized for its sympathetic portrayal and lack of coverage of her downfall.
