Four plays bound together: Comus: A Mask by John Milton (68 pages, frontispiece of Miss Storace in Euphrosyne); The Alchymist: A Comedy altered from Ben Jonson (134 pages, frontispiece of Mr. Dodd as Abel Drugger); Love for Love: A Comedy by William Congreve (140 pages, frontispiece of Mr. Bannister Jur. as Ben); The Rival Queens, or, The Death of Alexander the Great: A Tragedy by Nathaniel Lee (79, [3] pages, frontispiece of Mr. Holman as Alexander); 15 cm. Contemporary calf with six spine compartments between double gilt rules. Gilt-tooled title in second compartment "British Theatre," and volume number in fourth compartment "1." Comus by John Milton was published by Bunney and Gold in 1799; the other three plays by John Bell as part of his British Library series in 1791 and 1793. Former owner's armorial bookplate on front free endpaper: "Rogers" with motto "Nos Nostraque Deo." Small oval label on front fixed endpaper with handwritten number: 259. In Good+ Condition: rubbed; minor loss at spine ends; joints are tender; internally clean and solid.
