The Concept of Rājadharma in The Light of Indian Knowledge System

The Concept of Rājadharma in the Light of Indian Knowledge System" explores the deep interconnection between duty of a ruler) and national unity. It presents governance as an ethical and holistic responsibility as rooted in the Indian Knowledge System to ensure moral framework, integrating justice, spirituality, social welfare, and cosmic order. The governance in Indian tradition was considered a sacred responsibility to ensure harmony among individuals, society, nature, and the cosmos. Ethical governance must promote social welfare, scientific and technological progress, ecological balance, and global peace. The contributors examine philosophical foundations, historical applications, and comparative perspectives of Rājadharma. They challenge the misconception that ancient Indian political thought was autocratic or purely theocratic, highlighting instead the ruler's accountability to Dharma. In the modern context, the book argues that Rājadharma offers valuable insights for addressing challenges such as inequality, environmental degradation, and ethical dilemmas in technology and globalization. The broader academic efforts intend to revive and critically engage with indigenous knowledge in the light of a timeless ethical resource, encouraging renewed scholarly inquiry and practical reflection for shaping responsible and morally grounded governance in contemporary society.
