Biography, with photo, of Jacqueline Du Pré on p. 4. Program notes about Haydn cello concerto on p. 15. "Under Barbirolli's aegis Jackie became a frequent visitor to the Hallé in Manchester. . . . Jackie's special association with Barbirolli was founded to a large extent on mutual respect. But another important factor of their relationship lay in the fact that he was the only conductor of those she played with whom Jackie could look up to as a teacher" (Elizabeth Wilson, Jacqueline du Pré, p. 172). On p. 5 of this program, there is information about recordings by John Barbirolli, with Jacqueline Du Pré as cello soloist. One of the recordings is the forthcoming--"coming shortly"--recording of the Elgar cello concerto with Barbirolli and Du Pré, which is the most famous of all of Du Pré's recordings.
