Concise Encyclopedia of Psychology

Abridged from the award-winning four-volume work written by 500 expert contributors from around the world. Covers all major areas of psychology, including summaries of psychology in 22 countries. The 2,150 articles -- each written by a recognized expert -- are listed alphabetically and cover some 1,200 major topics. The book contains all major psychological tests, a complete subject index, and an extensive bibliography, making it a compact and convenient source for basic information on all aspects of psychology. Also features figures, tables and illustrations. Thoroughly cross-referenced.

A condensed version of the highly successful four-volume Encyclopedia of Psychology, 2nd Edition, this abridged version is intended for individual and small-library sale. In comparison to the full encyclopedia all substantive entries concerning terms, theories and concepts which appear in the Encyclopedia will be included in the Concise version (some entries will be abridged). Historical summaries of psychology in the U.S. and abroad will be eliminated (the four-volume set is available for such research). In place of extensive bibliographies, each entry will be followed by a list of suggested readings and cross-references. Long biographies will be replaced with a listing of important figures in psychology and a one sentence summary of the person's contribution to the field. Subject and author indexes will be eliminated (cross-references will serve that purpose).
