Concise Guide to Navicular Syndrome in the Horse (Howell Equestrian Library)

This is the fourth book in the Concise Guide series that deals with the health and maintenance of the horse. Here David W. Ramey, D.V.M., discusses injury to the navicular bone of the front foot and evaluates treatments that can be used to prevent lameness.

What exactly is navicular syndrome? This is usually the first question asked by horse owners after a veterinarian makes the diagnosis. This concise handbook tells horse owners what they need to know about: the normal anatomy and physiology of the horse’s foot; the diagnosis and treatment of navicular syndrome; shoeing strategies and surgical treatments for navicular; and the prognosis and long–term care of a horse suffering from the disease. Dr. David Ramey owns an equine veterinary practice in Southern California. His other books include Concise Guide to Arthritis in the Horse, Concise Guide to Colic in the Horse, Concise Guide to Laminitis, and Horsefeathers. An Equestrian Edge Book Club Selection
