8vo, pp. 8; preliminary material in French; text in Spanish and Tojolabal in parallel columns; printed presentation slip ("Avec tous les compliments de l'Auteur, de Charencey") laid in; very good in library boards, black lettering on spine. An Ayer Linguistic duplicate, with an Ayer bookplate and a Newberry release stamp; no other markings. Tojolabal is a Mayan language spoken in the Mexican state of Chiapas, in the departments of Altamirano and Margaritas. According to the 2010 census, there are 51,733 speakers of Tojolabal, which is also known as Chañabal, Comiteco or Tojol-ab al. It is closely related to Chuj, a Mayan language spoken in Guatemala.
