An English translation of this controversial autobiography, complete in two volumes. Privately printed. This work was published posthumously and this edition is unexpurgated. With a frontispiece portrait to both volumes in addition to a number of etchings. This work is notable as being one of the first major autobiographies as prior to this was Augustine's 'Confessions' and Saint Teresa's 'Life of Herself'. This work reflects on Rousseau's own works as well as more humiliating and shameful moments of his life. These moments include framing people for thefts he committed and how he gave away all five of his children with Therese Levasseur. Jean-Jacques Rousseau was a Genevan philosopher, writer and composer. His political philosophy influenced the French Revolution as well as the overall development of modern political, sociological, and educational thought. In full cloth bindings with paper spine labels. Externally, generally smart. Slight bumping to head and tail of spines and extremities. Spine labels slightly sunned. A few spots and handling marks to boards. Front hinges slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot. Very Good Indeed. Seller Inventory # GEN40-B-12
