Bound in ochre printed cloth with red and black spine lettering, housed in the original brown board slipcase. The binding design reproduces Three Friends of Winter, attributed to the thirteenth-century Chinese artist Zhao Mengjian.

D. C. Lau?s translation was first published by Penguin Books in 1979. This Folio Society edition was printed on Abbey Wove paper and bound in printed cloth by Hunter and Foulis, Edinburgh.

Very Good book in a Very Good slipcase. The printed-cloth binding is clean and bright, the binding is firm, and the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. One page in the introduction has a small tear and associated crease at the fore-edge margin; the tear does not affect the printed text. No inscriptions, highlighting or annotations. The original slipcase is structurally sound, with light surface rubbing and shelf marks.
