Across five planets, people are dying—paralyzed in mid-step, dead before they hit the ground. And in the skies, another galaxy is seeping into the Yuna, dragging their worlds into a once-every-twenty-six-year cosmic alignment known as the Prime Conjunction. Consumed by panic, a crumbling society has found someone to blame: the Conjunction Born, gifted outsiders birthed during the alignment.

Dorik is cursed with seeing what no one else can: the gnarled pathways of time and reality—and the shadow-creatures creeping through them, devouring what is left of his timeline. When his magically gifted sister, Odrid, is dragged into those branches, Dorik is blamed for her death. He screams the truth to anyone who will listen.

No one believes him.

Hunted by his own world and by the horrors that feed on time, Dorik's sanity-shredding ability is the only thing standing between what was and what could be. His only hope lies in uniting a band of fellow outcasts:

Timia, a weaver whose combined heritage gives her control over time that terrifies everyone near her.
Cerric, a conjurer marked for sacrifice and denied by the friend who shares his birth.
The psion, Alarea, who can tilt the odds of any future in her favor.
Py, a technologist determined to use her brilliant mind to prove the Conjunction Born are worth saving.

To survive, the Conjunction Born must convince the very societies that curse them that outcasts are the only thing holding time together.

Conjunction Born is the first book in The Root of Infinity, a four-book science fantasy series featuring a queer and multiracial ensemble cast. Perfect for readers who love magic braided with quantum mechanics, feared outsiders who turn out to be the last hope, and time-travel paradoxes that end in heartbreak.
