Connecting Across Generations

Being a grandparent today looks nothing like it did a generation ago—and that’s exactly why this book exists. This isn’t a book about grandparenting perfectly. It’s about doing it intentionally.

In a world that changes faster than ever, many grandparents feel unsure how to stay close, relevant, and connected to their families. Connecting Across Generations is your guide to doing just that.

Written with warmth, honesty, and humor, Rick Cognata helps modern grandparents navigate today’s family dynamics with confidence and heart. Through short, powerful chapters, he offers practical ways to build lasting relationships with your grandchildren and stronger partnerships with your adult children—without overstepping or losing yourself in the process.

Inside you’ll discover how to:

• Stay present and involved in your grandchildren’s lives

• Strengthen relationships with your adult children through empathy and boundaries

• Adapt to changing family roles with grace and humor

• Share your wisdom without sounding like a lecture

• Create a legacy built on love, not obligation

Each chapter ends with a simple “Try This Today” tip and a reflection question to help you put insights into action right away.

Whether you see your grandkids every weekend or live hundreds of miles away, Connecting Across Generations will remind you that your influence is more powerful—and more needed—than ever.

Because being a grandparent isn’t just about watching your family grow.
It’s about growing with them.
