"The Conqueror's Lady: Ines Suarez" is a vivid historical narrative that chronicles the extraordinary life of the only woman to join Pedro de Valdivia's 16th-century expedition to conquer Chile. Stella Burke May brings to life the story of Inés Suárez, a figure of immense grit and determination who defied the conventions of her time to forge a new life in the Americas.

From her departure from Spain to the treacherous trek across the Atacama Desert, this work explores the challenges of early colonization and the vital role Suárez played in the founding and survival of Santiago. As a strategist and a warrior, her actions during the indigenous siege of the fledgling settlement secured her place in South American history. This account provides a fascinating look into the complexities of the Spanish conquest, the origins of modern Chile, and the indomitable spirit of one of history's most remarkable pioneers.
