London, Macmillan 1883. Octavo half morocco; xx,111pp, one plate and a few illustrations and diagrams. Ex parliamentary library with their gilt crest on the front board and incorporated into the spine, no other markings; some foxing but a good copy. One of Siemens' few purely theoretical works, and just about his last (he died late in 1883). His theory was expounded to the Royal Society in 1882 and immediately sparked discussion and argument. Here he prints an augmented version of his own paper, the responses and comments of others and his responses to them. Among the appended papers is his on the electric furnace - one of his developments that was not put to practical purpose until much later. Seller Inventory # 6838
