Early American edition. 64pp. Half-title. 1 vols. 8vo. The author examines, justifies and explains the points of conflict between Britain and the North American Colonies, discussing the Stamp Act, Benjamin Franklin, taxation, trade, Ireland. He is very critical of Lord North's policies, many of those of Parliament, and also of Franklin's conduct. Nevertheless Robinson was sympathetic to the American cause, and his pamphlet was popular with the most radical element in the colonies. Styled the fifth edition on the half title, it is the third Boston edition of 1774, each issued in quick succession between August and November. Adams, American Independence 134h; Howes R372; Kress 7049 (for first edition); Sabin 72152; Evans 13584 Stitched into early paper wrappers. Provenance: Elisha Basset (signature dated November 1774).
