On Constancy is a philosophical treatise of Justus Lipsius. Constancy is understood as patience in public disasters, grounded on a metaphysical background: the theory of necessity of the laws of the world, chosen by a provident God. This book is the major philosophical dialogue of neostoicism.

About the Authors

Pierre-Fran�ois Moreau est professeur d'histoire de la philosophie � l'ENS de Lyon. Ancien directeur de l'IHPC (UMR CNRS 5037), il dirige la nouvelle �dition des oeuvres compl�tes de Spinoza. Il est responsable de la s�rie � Textes de philosophie � et est l'auteur de Probl�mes du spinozisme et Leibniz et Spinoza. Depuis 2014, il dirige La Lettre clandestine.

Jacqueline Lagr�e est professeur �m�rite de philosophie � l'universit� de Rennes 1. Elle a publi� Juste Lipse et la restauration du sto�cisme (Paris, 1994), � Constancy and coherence � dans Stoicism. Traditions and Transformations (dir. Steven Strange et Jack Zupko), p.148-176 (Cambridge, 2004) et Le N�osto�cisme (Paris, 2010).
