His Constant Call: A Primer on Contemplative Prayer

The practice of contemplative prayer is often misunderstood and can be intimidating. His Constant Call is an introduction to contemplative prayer that emerged from one church community's journey to make room for God in their busy lives. It is a compilation of guidance from Scripture and the experiences of many who have gone before, as well as lessons learned through the author's experiences. This primer describes the ways that Jesus draws us into communion with Himself and how that encounter changes us.

Topics include:

• the ancient paths of contemplative prayer
• the secret place, solitude, and interior silence
• postures of the heart
• nurturing a prayer life

Prioritizing our relationship with Jesus is the most appropriate response to His constant call for greater intimacy.

What Others Say About This Book:

In a world of noise that penetrates us from without and within, divine silence is the most vital spiritual praxis we must recover. Contemplation is the truest vocation of our humanity, yet we have largely forgotten the hidden Spring of Life, which is more experienced than taught. Nevertheless, there are "methodless methods" handed to us by the Great Tradition to assist our return to rest, fostering an awareness of our unity in the Trinitarian life. In this rich volume, Ken McCann helps reintroduce us to contemplative practice, offering valuable, accessible insights to help along the way.
