This is the first book to tell the story of Italian silverware of the last three decades. Showcasing the work of major Italian architects, designers and design companies such as Ettore Sottsass Jr and Alessi, it demonstrates the key role Italian silverware has played in transforming this material into objects of desire for today's consumer.

Eva Czernis-Ryl is a curator of decorative arts and design at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney. She was the content editor and contributing author of Australian Gold and Silver 1851-1900 (Powerhouse Publishing 1995) and a contributing author to A Material World - Fibre, Colour and Pattern (Powerhouse Publishing 1990).
