About the Author
Beverly Zanger has developed courses in designing and directing fitness and sports programs, as well as professional resources in sports and activities. She was a founding NASSM executive council member, and she has over 40 years teaching and 25 years coaching experience. She now lives in Waikoloa on the Big Island of Hawaii. Her diverse interests include swimming, dancing, and fencing.
Jerome Quarterman, PhD, is an associate professor of sport management at BGSU, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate classes in sport administration. His research interests include leadership and managerial behaviors, skills, and roles of first-line managers in various segments of the sport industry. He has published articles in journals ranging from the Journal of Sport Management to the International Journal of Sport Psychology and The Coaching Clinic.
Prior to his service at BGSU, he was an assistant football coach, womens basketball coach, and track coach at the collegiate level. He also served as an academic chair of physical education and as an intercollegiate athletics director.
Dr. Quarterman received a PhD from The Ohio State University in 1978. He lives in Maumee, Ohio. His leisure activities include fast-pace walking, tennis, basketball (horse), and softball.
