"Serf, Free-Woman, or Lady... I serve the crown." To young Josephine winter began the day her father died fighting for the king. Torn from her home and imprisoned as a serf far from her family, she struggled to grow into a woman, fighting to keep the principles and skills her father had taught her from so young an age. Years, too many to count, of slavery and beatings had turned her into the woman known as Da’Leth. But they would never extinguish the fighting spirit that paired so well with her fiery red hair. That same fiery spirit had made her a thorn in Lord Byron's side that he could bear no longer. Yet it was that same flash of fire that captured Nicholas' attention. Traveling as a lady in waiting for his sister, Da’Leth is forced to call upon her skills and fighting spirit to defend these people who had rescued her from her daily nightmare. And defense they would need against the man hunting Nicholas for the sins of his past, hurting any who got in his way. Da’Leth also needed defense for her heart against the man who had quickly earned her loyalty and slowly won her heart. Could she choose between the man she loved and her family’s honor?
