Rudo Schwarz wurde im Oktober 1906 in der Stadt Deutsch-Gabel (jetzt im Norden der Tschechischen Republik) geboren. Von kleinauf besch�ftigte er sich als Autodidakt mit der Malerei und nahm sp�ter Unterricht bei renommierten Lehrern. Im Jahre 1939 wurde er als einfacher Soldat ins Heer einberufen. In den Jahren 1943-44 diente er auf Kreta. W�hrend dieser Zeit besch�ftigte er sich aus pers�nlicher Initiative mit der Abbildung von Kulturdenkm�lern, Landschaften und Gesichtern in Aquarellen und Zeichnungen. Der Ausstellungskatalog gibt Ausz|ge aus seinem Tagebuch und aus seinem k|nstlerischen Werk wieder.
