Control the Rock: Lessons My Dad Taught Me About Pool, Courage, and Life

Manuel Gonzales Jr. lost his right arm and right leg in Vietnam. Although he was right-hand dominant, he learned how to master the game of pool one handed and standing on one leg. He became one of Colorado's best and most recognized pool players and went on to become a God-fearing family man, a staple in the community, and a successful entrepreneur.

In this poignant memoir, Manuel Gonzales III reflects on the lessons his father taught him at the cue's end where wisdom flows as freely as chalk dust, such as the value of:

maintaining focus and control over one's actions and reactions to achieve goals.resilience and determination in the face of life's challenges.mastering the basics and building a solid base, whether in a game, career, or personal life.

Through his father's silent strength and unyielding spirit, he discovers the true meaning of resilience and courage.

Manuel Gonzales III is a father, grandfather, entrepreneur, and amateur pool champion. He and his wife Cassandra co-founded SSC Doctors, Inc., in 2016. They live in Northern Colorado with their children and grandchildren, continuing a tradition of entrepreneurship and pool champions into its fourth generation.
