About the Author
Noted author of numerous articles and award winning books, Marilynn's work has focused on the concepts of delegation, critical thinking, and creative expression. She served as graduate faculty for the University of Phoenix, teaching courses in management, leadership, collaboration and conflict, among many others. Changing directions to reflect her work with intuitive nursing practice (www.intuitiveoptions.com) and energy therapies, Marilynn is now a certified healing touch practitioner and a certified clinical aromatherapist, with a growing private practice in the Treasure Valley of Oregon. She teaches classes in both modalities and is available for private and group consultation.
Nationally recognized as an expert in medical-surgical and gerontological nursing, Donna has a wealth of experiences as a clinical nurse specialist, educator, and nursing administrator for over 30 years. She has taught at the diploma and baccalaureate levels, and most recently in an associate degree program. Currently she provides continuing education and consultation for faculty, staff nurses, managers, and allied health professionals on critical thinking, leadership and management, and gerontology topics through her consulting company, DI Associates, Inc. She has written a number of articles and books, including Medical-Surgical Nursing: Critical Thinking for Collaborative Care (4th ed.), An Introduction to Long Term Care Nursing, and the Core Curriculum for Case Management (with Susan Powell). Her most recent article on critical thinking can be found in the January 2001 issue of Nursing Management. Donna also has an article entitled “Rheumatoid Arthritis and the Older Adult” in the May/June 2001 issue of Geriatric Nursing.
Bette Case practices as an independent consultant to a broad spectrum of healthcare organizations including a travel nurse company, professional schools, professional organizations, hospitals, disease management companies, managed care organizations, a public health department, and providers of continuing nursing education. She assists her clients to achieve their goals using educational, competency management, and quality improvement strategies. Dr. Case is also a partner in Clinical Care Solutions, Inc., which focuses its business on improving medication safety. She has published on the topics of critical thinking, test construction, competency testing, and career development. She has also written numerous continuing education self-study courses and has prepared competence tests for a variety of nursing specialties. She serves on the editorial board of The Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing. Prior to establishing her consulting practice, Dr Case held leadership positions in the school of nursing and the nursing department at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, IL. She also serves as Membership Chairperson for the National Nursing Staff Development Organization (NNSDO) and was among the first group of nurses to receive certification in Nursing Staff Development and Continuing Education for the American Nurses Association Credentialing Center (ANCC). Dr. Case earned her BSN at Syracuse University and her MSN and PhD in educational psychology at Loyola University of Chicago, Chicago, IL.
