Conversations with Nell: The Discerning World of a Wise and Witty Labrador

The adventures of wise and witty black Labrador Nell, and her amusing fictitious conversations with her real-life owners, The Martin family.

Is handsome German Shepherd Charlie really atecret agent? Why is there a Pomeranian in Nell’s handbag? And what about The Cat?

Welcome to the adventures and wonderful world of black Labrador Nell. Nell lives in a cottage near the sea in beautiful Devon, England with her owners, Sara and Kev, and four other dogs: elderly Patterdale Mutley (a retired entrepreneur owning chains such as Pizza Mutt and Walbarks), feisty little Maltese mix Poppy (a talented chef who carries a sword and is famous for her scones), gentle chocolate Lab Dave (who loves surfing, singing and sausages), and his twin sister Harriet (a delicate brown lab who is always there to pick up the pieces).

In between special times with her family, Nell faces kidnappings, haunted hotels, shy flamingos, and singing corgis, among other adventures, as well as meeting handsome German Shepherd Charlie, the love of her life.

Words have always been a part of author Sara’s Martin's life, whether as a radio presenter, teacher, voiceover artist, writer, or mother. Talking to her animals comes naturally to her, only now we can listen to what one has to say back. Dog lovers and dog owners alike will be surprised, delighted, and amused to find out what Nell is doing and saying.

Whether as a radio presenter, subtitler, teacher, voiceover artist, mother, or author, words have always been a part of Sara’s life. Talking to her animals comes naturally to her, only now we can listen too.
