Classic work by one of the pioneers in the healthy eating movement, promoting the value of vitamins & good nutrition way ahead of her contemporaries. With the motto, "Good Health Comes From Good Cooking," this cookbook was first published in hardcover in 1947 (please see our listing #024289 for a later copy of that First Edition). This is the First Revised Edition from 1962 (an Aug.1968 printing), in 597 pages + list of equivalent measures on the decorative endpapers. Major changes include a reduction in the use of solid fats & increased use of vegetable oils, + a new awareness of the potentially carcinogenic effects of many preservatives, colors, dyes, artificial sweeteners & flavorings. With bright red cloth-covered boards stamped in silver lettering to front & spine, this hardcover is in VG condition: generally quite clean, but with a spattering of light soiled spots to all outside edges of text block & a couple of internal pages (see photo 5 for the worst). Else, binding strong & straight, pages white & unmarked. could be , illustrations throughout& "newly revised and updated" in 1962 & published in this mass market paperback format in 1970; this is the 10th paperback printing, in 573 pages with Index.Condition is VG: completely clean, binding strong & straight, pages modestly tanned, commensurate with age, but completely unmarked. Light surface discoloration, bent bottom outer corners on pages 113-142.The unclipped DJ (with orig. $4.95 price intact to front flap) is just Good: largely intact save for slight chipping to head of spine & some corners, but soiled & darkened, particularly to spine; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover Free!
