About the Author

Principal author Linda Hachfeld, MPH, RD credits the entire community of Mankato, Minn. in helping write this book. It took 4 years of triple taste-testing recipes (by more than 300 volunteers and their families) to determine recipes worthy based on their tastefulness, ease to prepare, practical ingredients, family appeal and meeting heart healthy guidelines before they could be added to the book. Linda is a registered dietitian who has served the profession of dietetics in clinical, administrative and research capacities. She is most proud that proceeds from sales of this book have gone to the American Heart Association for Women & Heart Disease research, provided the endowment for the establishment of the Council of Health Promotion, and provides grant funds to rural community schools and organizations for health promotion and wellness efforts.
