Many jobs in the science and technological world do not require a college degree. This book describes opportunities that could have the reader working in a chemical lab, mining for metals and minerals, or helping doctors diagnose diseases. Information about salary, job duties, training, and outlook is provided for each job.

Grade 6-9 Concise, clearly written titles. In Surfers, a variety of careers ranging from Webmaster to technical recruiter are covered. Wizards discusses such positions as medical lab technician, inspector and tester, and cost estimator. In both books, highly organized and easy-to-follow chapters offer background information on job responsibilities and work environment, education and training, salary, and outlook. Sidebars provide sample job descriptions, explanations of acronyms and vocabulary, and brief discussions of scientific and technological topics. In addition, each chapter culminates in a highlighted section listing associations, Web sites, books, and other resources. These titles are accurate and timely, though the information presented is limited (as are the indexes and glossaries).
