Asperger syndrome is a neurobiological disorder that results from abnormalities in the brain. These abnormalities that are present in Asperger affect areas of the brain that are responsible for a person’s ability to function as a social being in the world. This book from the Coping series introduces Asperger syndrome, a neurological disorder related to autism, taking a look at symptoms, treatments, and the increasing awareness and changing views surrounding it. Two interesting chapters deal with the needs of children with Asperger syndrome and how they are met (or not) in schools. Although the book occasionally seems to address adults, it is one of the first overviews to present what is known in a manner that is accessible to younger readers.
