Reviews
Bramson, author of Coping with Difficult People ( LJ 5/1/87), here presents a very readable text for those whose goal is to reach upper management. He adequately depicts the climb and its pitfalls, and he includes many real-life case studies. He gives guidelines for coping with work-related stress, the squeeze at the top, power plays, and unhealthy organizational practices which can cause value conflicts. Bramson provides short and useful self-assessment instruments and also offers many suggestions to keep from being overwhelmed as one rises in an organization. At the end of the book, he discusses the quest for a balanced life. A highly recommended self-help book.
