Copper, Timber, Iron & Heart is a collection of stories from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. These are the stories of the men and women whose courage and determination forged the Upper Peninsula of Michigan into what it is today. This is history told not in an eat your spinach manner but through narrative stories told with imagination and improvisation, more like ice cream dessert.

Money for developmernt came from back East, attracted by the natural resources of the area and the opportunity to make a profit but the blood, sweat and tears were home grown. There were triumphs and tragedies, deep mines and tall pines. It required the efforts of sailors, fishermen, miners, loggers and school teachers among many others. Here s how they did it and how they made it work or not.
