Two of the text illustrations have had color added, likely by a child. Ownership signature of Franklin Schott, Oct. 8, 1863. This work was copyrighted in 1858. This was clearly issued in 1861 as there is a note on page 65 indicating that Kansas had been granted statehood (January 29, 1861), but with no mention of the secession of states at the beginning of the Civil War (South Carolina seceded on December 20, 1860).
