Cornucopia: A Collection of Essays, Poems, & Stories

we tip the basket—and out it all comes.
Stories tumble first, still warm from the hands that held them.
Ideas roll away like marbles. A few memories stick to the bottom, stubborn and sweet. Someone laughs. Someone gasps. Someone says, Oh—that’s me.
This is a cornucopia, after all. It was never meant to be tidy.
Inside it: rain-soaked afternoons and half-finished sentences, dogs that interrupt writing, storms survived, friendships found and lost and found again. There are pencils worn down to nubs, notebooks that smell faintly of erasers, questions asked too early and answers arriving late—sometimes never, and sometimes all at once.
Abundance does not line up neatly.
It spills.
It overlaps.
It surprises.
Here, learning wandered off the path and came back carrying treasure. Here, imagination tried things, failed noisily, tried again, and kept going anyway. Some stories ran. Some tiptoed. Some sat quietly in the corner until someone finally noticed them.
A cornucopia is not a trophy. It is an invitation.
Take a line with you. Take a feeling. Take the reminder that wonder is not rare—it just needs noticing. That stories don’t have to be perfect to be true. That young voices, when trusted, know exactly where they want to go.
If you listen closely, you can still hear them:
the hum of thought,
the scrape of a chair,
the thrill of I made this.
So don’t close the book too carefully.
Let the pages breathe.
Let the basket stay tipped.
The feast is not over.
It never was.
