8vo. First edition. Original ring binding with card covers. Four coloured maps and numerous black and white photographs throughout. Advertisement for Shell on the Road at the rear by Edward Bawden. Ring binding twisted. Front cover partially detached, very worn and wrinkled. Back cover missing. Rear endpaper a bit creased. Ink scribbling to verso of front cover. Slight foxing to the verso of each map and the text block edges. Poor. A sorry example but the first edition of the first Shell Guide is very scarce. 8vo. First edition. Original ring binding with card covers. Four coloured maps and numerous black and white photographs throughout. Advertisement for Shell on the Road at the rear by Edward Bawden. Both covers creased and rubbed and very partially detached from the spiral binding. There is a short tear to the top edge of the front cover. The map section is slightly foxed with a very short closed tear to the leading edge of one page. There are scattered marks throughout as if someone with grubby fingers has turned the pages. Good. 'IF you only try to like wasps they will like you BUT IF you are foolish enough to get stung, it is a good thing to have a blue bag handy.' The first Shell Guide in first edition.
