Gang der Untersuchung: Die vorliegende Arbeit ist in f�nf Kapitel gegliedert. Das erste Kapitel setzt sich mit den Chaebol bis 1997 auseinander. Hier wird der Begriff "Chaebol" definiert, typologisiert und der entstehungsgeschichtliche Hintergrund erl�utert, wobei auf die Entwicklung der Chaebol und die Rolle der Regierung eingegangen wird sowie die charakteristischen Merkmale der Chaebol herausgearbeitet werden. Dieses Kapitel ist als Grundlage zum Einstieg in die Problematik und als Ausgangspunkt der weiteren Diskussion in der Arbeit gedacht. Das zweite Kapitel besch�ftigt sich mit der Wirtschaftskrise und der Implementierung der Chaebol Reform. Es werden zun�chst die Ursachen der Krise, die Rolle des IMF und politische Gegenma�nahmen er�rtert. Im Anschluss werden speziell die Ma�nahmen der Regierung hinsichtlich der Unternehmensreform besprochen. Dabei wird auf den institutionellen Rahmen, die Akteure, die Chaebol Reform mit den "Big Deals" und auf gesetzliche Revisionen eingegangen. Das dritte Kapitel untersucht die Umsetzung der Reformen auf Unternehmensebene bzw. die mehr oder weniger freiwilligen Reaktionen der Chaebol auf die Politikma�nahmen. Dazu werden zuerst Ver�nderungen innerhalb der internen und externen Governance sowie Unternehmensrestruktrierungen allgemein diskutiert. Im Anschluss daran werden Fallbeispiele von Unternehmensrestrukturierungen erw�hnt und speziell die Probleme der Corporate Governance Reform am Beispiel von Samsung Electronics Corp. verdeutlicht. Seit 1997 hat sich das Umfeld der Chaebol stark ver�ndert. Die auff�lligsten Faktoren sind die enorm gestiegene Partizipation von Ausl�ndern in der s�dkoreanischen Wirtschaft und das Erstarken von Aktion�rsbewegungen.
