Environmental degradation has assumed alarming dimensions today. This has made environmental management a specialised field which is beyond the scope of governments. Environment is a global issue unrelated to national boundaries. It requires a set up that is above the national concerns and of universal nature. This book highlights this fact and emphasizes on the Corporate Governance of Environment. What is more is that, this work fixes the social responsibility of the corporates, discusses the practices and tools necessary for it and more importantly stresses upon the building of financial capacity to carry out commitments on environmental front. There is a correction between poverty and environment. More poverty leads to greater environmental degradation and conversely environmental degradation breeds in poverty. This makes poverty alleviation a major agenda for corporate governance. This fact finds sound logic and representation in this work. About The Prof. Ramesh Chandra was born in a family of academicians and freedom fighters on July 1st. 1957 in village Bijwara, District Meerut of Uttar Pradesh. He started his research career at University of Delhi and then went to the New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center, as well as at the School of Medicine, State University of New York at Stony Brook as a faculty member and then went to Harvard University Medical School-Massachusetts General Hospital joined at MIT, Cambridge, USA. On his return to India he joined the faculty at the University of Delhi, where he is currently a Professor of Chemistry and Director of Dr. BR Ambedkar Centre for Biomedical in addition to his present assignment as Vice-Chancellor of Bundelkhand University, Jhansi (UP).
