Ca. 200p, no ills. A mixture of carbon and original typed pages, sometimes cut apart and glued together. These pieces have often come unglued. Laid in: undated note to Pat and David [H. Munroe], presenting them with the typescript and thanking them for their help. In the published book Littauer notes that he sent various drafts of the typescript to his "old friends" the Munroes and thanks them for their "invaluable" "comments and criticisms." Throughout this typescript are many changes in ink for style, clarity, and content. Littauer notes that the ones in red and green were suggested by one or both of the Munroes; there are other changes, in blue. He writes to the Munroes, "This will not be the first time you have seen this typescript. . . . It is not the final copy but the one that represents the book in the making--an undertaking in which you so generously participated. May this typescript remind you of my gratefulness." The published book shows further revisions, presumably by the publisher, Eugene Connett, whom Littauer also thanks. A wonderful look at the making of the book of which Littauer wrote elsewhere, "This book, I believe, is my best one--however, it doesn't sell."
