Today's infrastructure is made of a variety of materials, such as metals, alloys, glass, plastic, wood, ceramic, silicate brick, and natural stones. Bridges, pipelines, buildings, and systems of land and marine transportation are all at serious risk from corrosion. Steel corrosion in concrete caused by chloride is one of the most evident examples of this phenomena. It has serious economic repercussions and numerous faults, resulting in expensive repairs for damaged areas, as well as a risk to safety and service interruption. Corrosion inhibitors are chemicals that are added to concrete in tiny levels to stop corrosion in the concrete structure. Concrete coating lowers corrosion by improving the structure's impermeability and visual appeal. Concrete coatings offer protection for both the concrete and the reinforcement steel, even in cases where the concrete has been tainted by chlorides. Examples of liquid or semisolid coatings that are applied to hardened concrete include epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic, polyurea, and metal boards coated with polymers.
