What if becoming more self-reliant didn’t require years of farming experience, expensive equipment, or a perfect piece of land? What if you could learn the practical skills of country living one manageable step at a time—and start creating a more capable, productive, and independent household?
Are you dreaming of growing your own vegetables but don’t know where to begin? Wondering how to raise healthy farm animals without feeling overwhelmed? Curious about keeping bees, preserving food, managing household resources, or developing practical rural skills? Perhaps you simply want to become less dependent on supermarkets, outside services, and complicated systems. Country Living Made Simple for Absolute Beginners is designed to help you turn those questions into practical action.
But where should you start?
Should you plant a garden first? How do you choose crops that fit your available space and time? What does healthy soil actually need? How can you organize planting, watering, harvesting, and routine maintenance without turning your entire life upside down?
And what about animals?
Could chickens, goats, or other farm animals become part of your household? What responsibilities come with raising them? How do you think about shelter, feeding, cleanliness, safety, and daily care? Instead of assuming you already know the answers, this practical handbook walks you through the questions beginners need to ask before making important decisions.
Then there is the fascinating world of apiaries. Have you ever wondered what it really takes to keep bees? How does a beginner approach hive management responsibly? What should you understand about seasonal routines, equipment, colony care, and honey production before getting started?
What happens when your garden produces more food than your household can eat immediately? Do you know how to preserve seasonal produce so that your effort continues paying off long after harvest? From planning and preparation to practical food-preservation principles, you’ll discover ways to think more intentionally about storing and using what you produce.
But country living is about much more than gardens and animals, isn’t it?
True household independence begins with practical knowledge, thoughtful planning, useful routines, and the confidence to solve everyday problems. Whether you are moving to the countryside, improving a small homestead, preparing for a more self-sufficient lifestyle, or simply seeking useful rural skills, this book encourages you to approach each challenge with patience and common sense.
What could you accomplish if you stopped trying to learn everything at once and instead built your skills progressively?
Paul E. Guerriero presents country living in an approachable, practical way for absolute beginners. You’ll explore gardening, apiaries, farm animals, food preservation, rural skills, household organization, and the habits that can help you become more capable and resourceful.
Are you ready to grow more of your own food, develop practical rural skills, and take meaningful steps toward greater household independence?
Open the book, start with where you are, and discover how simple country living can become when you have a practical plan.
Get your copy of Country Living Made Simple for Absolute Beginners today and begin building a more capable, productive, and independent way of life—one practical skill at a time.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
