Although raised in Minneapolis John Osander wrote most of "Country Matters" during forty years in the East. While away from the Midwest he directed the Princeton University Admission Office, founded the first state Teacher Recruitment and Placement Office, and served at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as Senior Deputy to the President, a former U.S. Commissioner of Education. Since publishing, he has returned to his Minneapolis roots to work on a novel about St. Paul in 1934 "Great Uncle Nick's Great Kick."
